About Me

Dr. Devine is a Licensed Psychologist specializing in helping people with Stress-related Medical Disorders, Anxiety problems, Depression, and Chronic Pain. He also provides Qualified Medical Evaluations (QME), Agreed Medical Evaluations (AME) and Independent Medical Evaluations (IME)for psychological disability claims. He maintains a private practice in San Jose, California.

With over 30 years experience as a psychologist and as a graduate of Stanford University, and the University of Montana I offer psychotherapy services to a broad spectrum of adult clients/patients. I also serve as a Medical Staff Member at Good Samaritan Hospital, San Jose, CA.

I currently serve as a Director, on the Board of Directors of the California Society of Industrial Medicine & Surgery (CSIMS). This organisation of over 600 physicians, representing all specialties, was founded in 1980 to help its members excel in practice, as they help injured workers get their lives back together.

My overarching interest over my years of practice has been a body-mind approach to mental and physical well being. This interest has led me to seek specialized training in Biofeedback, and Formative Psychology. I have been Board Certified in Biofeedback since 1984, Diplomate Certified in Pain Management in 1996, and have been engaged in ongoing training and mentorship in Formative Psychology with Dr. Stanley Keleman since 1998. More information about these areas of expertise can be found at www.aapb.org and at www.centerpress.com. My theoretical orientation is best described as Cognitive-Behavioral, reflecting my graduate school education and research. However, I apply these principles in a humanistic tradition, with an effort to meet the client where they are in their life now, and determining together what changes they want to make to increase satisfaction and meaning in their life.
